Chapter 13 - Escape Extract

I think that on Page 103 there is a good extract that relates to 'Escape'.

It starts with 'Don't you feel like talking for a while?' and finishes with 'She wouldnt've told me anyway'.

I think that this extract relates well to escape because Holden is with a prostitute that he did actually ask for but when she arrives it is as if he does not want to be with her anymore and he is trying to escape away from sex. Holden basically tells this prostitue that he just wants to talk first and it is as if he is avoiding doing anything with her. Holden has a variety of opinions towards sex in some of the chapters as sometimes he wants to have sex but then in this chapter when he has the opportunity to he decides against it. In the extact Holden says that he was feeling 'so damn peculiar' and maybe this is just how Holden feels towards sex especially doing it with someone he does not know at all. Maybe by Holden wanting to talk to the prostitute instead of sex he is trying to indicate to her that he wants her to escape, as in get away, from him so that he does not have to get rid of her.
